As a regular contributor to KORUM, Dr. Bernhard Seliger focuses in the second 2025 edition on vocational education in North Korea. He illustrates how factory schools, agricultural courses, and modern distance learning programs open up new opportunities, but these are heavily constrained by ideological directives, political control, and a lack of international cooperation.

Dr. Bernhard Seliger and Dr. Hyun-Ah Choi of HSF Korea have published a peer-reviewed article showcasing the Foundation’s role in global partnerships for migratory bird conservation. With thanks to Ms. Minjae Baek for coordinating the GMACC Project, this work highlights how collaboration can protect biodiversity along the flyway.

On August 7, 2025, the National Institute of Forest Science and HSF Korea brought together experts in Paju to discuss the future of inter-Korean forest cooperation. Despite political challenges, participants reaffirmed that joint environmental efforts can foster dialogue and peace on the Korean Peninsula.

At the 24th UN & 2030 Agenda Youth Training, HSF Korea’s Dr. Hyun-Ah Choi highlighted how science, policy, and grassroots action can unite across borders to achieve the SDGs.

From July 23–31, 2025, HSF Korea joined over 170 nations at Ramsar COP15 in Victoria Falls to strengthen global cooperation for wetland conservation.
