Internship
Meaningful Experience at HSF Korea

Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Korea has been offering internships to those interested in working in international organizations - focusing on inter-Korean relations, sustainable development and peaceful unification - for more than 10 years. HSF Korea’s latest interns, Haesu Jung and Farzanah Shafii, shared their internship experience on their last days at HSF Korea.

In the service of democracy, peace and development, HSF Korea has its mission aiming for international integration and cooperation in Korea. The foundation not only builds partnerships in fields of unification and environment protection, but also contributes to the Korean peaceful reconciliation process by sharing the German experience of reunification. In order to provide work experience in a global environment, HSF Korea offers internship programs to help students contribute to unification and environmental projects on the Korean Peninsula.

During the internship, the interns gain numerous opportunities to interact with other global institutions and professionals in the field by attending conferences and forums. At the end of 2020, due to the COVID-19 outbreak and pandemic restrictions, most meetings were switched online. Nevertheless, the interns were able to participate in various events and earn insightful knowledge and experience through the screen by joining the Hwaseong Wetlands International Symposium, 2021 Pyeongchang Peace Forum, and German-Korean Unification Forum, etc.

The internship program provides opportunities for recent or expected college graduates to help them learn practical working skills and establish relationships with partners in relevant fields. Both interns agreed that working at HSF Korea has built them a foundation for their future career goals. Students interested in working in a German foundation in Korea, specifically in dealing with North Korea, unification and environmental issues, are welcomed to apply for internship positions at HSF Korea.
