Meeting with ICLEI Korea

On March 26, 2024, Dr. Hyunah Choi, Senior Researcher and Minjae Baek, Regional Climate Project Coordinator at Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea visited the ICLEI Korea to share their and to explore ways to collaborate in the future.

On March 26, 2024, Dr. Hyunah Choi, Senior Researcher, and Minjae Baek, Regional Climate Project Coordinator at Hanns Seidel Foundation visited the ICLEI Korea to meet with Bonghee Son, Deputy Director, and Minwoo Chun, Climate & Biodiversity Officer.

ICLEI Korea is an international network for governance that gives local governments a voice and advocates for sustainability in the global community. Currently, more than 2,500 local governments in 125 countries are members, and as of March 2024, the ICELI Korea is working with 58 local and regional governments in South Korea.

ICLEI Korea has developed guidelines and conducted training programs to strengthen the capacity of local governments, including participating in the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15) with Shinan County to support local governments in their efforts to conserve biodiversity.

The Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea explained the Foundation's activities and shared the results of a side event and meeting with the ICLEI Africa office at the 14th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS COP14) in Uzbekistan in February 2024.

The meeting discussed future collaboration between the two organizations on biodiversity conservation activities in border areas and on peace through nature.
