The new edition of THE UNIFIED KOREA (February 2017)

A new edition of the magazine “The Unified Korea”, which deals with topics concerning Korean unification, has been published by the Institute for Peace Affairs, a long-standing partner of the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Korea.

Among others, this edition (February 2017) features the following topics:

- A main issue of this month’s edition, entitled “strong man – Northeast Asia wavers” dedicates a row of articles to current stance and perspective of major powers involved in the region. These articles portray the current geopolitical shift in Northeast Asia, revealing interests of China, Russia and Japan in Northeast Asia and are complemented by an outlook on what South Korea can and must do in order to maintain a position among these powers.

- Another issue of the paper entitled “the dream of a socialist nation – what is Kim Jeong-un’s card for 2017” addresses concerns regarding North Korea. One article in particular is concerned on how North Korea is coping with the sanctions imposed on the country last year, while another article raises the question if it is possible that North Korea is gaining the upper hand.
