“The 7 Areas of the Digital Age” – Seminar with Taejae-Academy

On March 23, HSF has presented attended a seminar on the digitalization of think tank work organized by Taejae Academy in Northern Seoul.

As part of its seminar series titled “The 7 Areas of the Digital Age”, Taejae Academy has invited Hanns Seidel Foundation to learn about its digitalization strategy in order to derive new models for Korean think tanks and to learn how to deal with changes in social paradigms brought about by technological advances.

Dr. Seliger began his talk by reviewing the history of civic education in Germany before he introduced the foundation and its work around the globe. He then presented the HSF's digital strategy. In doing so, he first introduced the foundation’s general ideas on digitalization and then illustrated them with examples from the website, which features a range of multimedia content, including articles on a number of topics, short explanatory videos, and podcasts. The foundation also has a presence on social media with daily posts. He also spoke about the challenges that arise as a result of digitization.

To illustrate the connection between the HSF's projects and digitization, Dr. Seliger first presented the foundation's environment-related work and illustrated this with various projects in North Korea. However, these projects can only be digitized to a limited extent. Generally, local conditions must be taken into account in all digitization measures. Cooperation with local partners is of high importance as well as they greatly influence the successful implementation of projects.

The seminar concluded with questions asked by the audience.
