Special Lecture at SNU on Infrastructure in the DPR Korea

Early this week Dr Seliger, representative of Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea was invited to Seoul National University (SNU) to hold a lecture on infrastructure in the DPR Korea, as well as in Germany during and after unification.

Dr Seliger stressed the importance of infrastructure in overcoming the division.

German experiences of division and unification are of special importance to the Korean peninsula. Thus, it was with much interest that SNU invited Dr Seliger to talk about the development of infrastructure in Germany during and after unification. During his lecture Dr Seliger stressed the important role of infrastructure in overcoming East-West polarization not just in Germany, but in Europe.

After an introduction to German efforts in the development of infrastructure post-unification, Dr Seliger shared his abundant insights into the current state and development of infrastructure in the North. Based on German experiences he then gave an outlook on possible challenges, that the peninsula might face in the field of infrastructure in case of unification.

Students as well as professors and teachers of SNU showed great interest and participated actively in the following Q-&-A session. Some questions were concerned with the problem of attracting investors in the field of infrastructure, while others explored possible important steps in the development of infrastructure in the initial phase of unification.
