Protection of the Coastal Wetlands of Yellow (Bohai) Sea Yancheng

2018 International Symposium in the Coastal Wetlands of Yellow (Bohai) Sea Yancheng took place in Yancheng, China from 16th to 17th November hosted by Yancehng Municipal People’s Government, IUCN Asia Reginal Office, and Ramsar Regional Centre – East Asia. This symposium was followed discussion to conserve the Yellow/West sea and the suggestions of 2017 Yancheng international symposium.

Dr Hyun-Ah Choi, Senior researcher of Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Korea attended the symposium and introduced the activity of Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, DPRK with HSF Korea to conserve the Yellow/West sea.

The participants discussed the variety topics included exploding protection system and mechanism, science-based management, ecological conservation and sustainable development-strategic planning, and integrated the coastal wetlands into the strategic process of regional and global mechanisms. The participants agreed that we have responsibility to protect and manage the Yellow/West Sea at regional, national, and global level. Also, it needs to work at trilateral cooperation across the Yellow/West Sea. The participants will share the information, research results and cooperate to conserve the Yellow/West Sea.
