On July 17th 2020, an international conference on the topic of “Challenge of International Relation and Trade Dispute after COVID-19” will be held in Busan, South Korea. Representatives of Hanns Seidel Foundation will also be present and will give a presentation on the topic of North Korea and COVID-19.

The international conference is organized by BK21 Plus Center for International Trade Dispute Resolution (Dong-A University) and will provide an opportunity for the participants to discuss and exchange their ideas, solutions, and perspectives on important global issues. As well as the post-COVID-19 era. Various scholars and experts from various fields as well as students will be joining the conferences on the 17th of July 2020 in the Park Hyatt Hotel, Busan. The event will be one day long and will include two academic sessions: One on “International Trade Dispute After Post COVID-19” and one on “International Relations After Post COVID-19”.

North Korea has released information about the current situation but a validation is difficult because of lack of evidence and independent assessment and review in the country. The DPRK, at the same time, lacks sufficient medical facilities and international support is limited due to the closing of borders and international sanctions. Hanns Seidel Foundation has been working with North Korea on issues such as capacity-building and international cooperation and integration of North Korea in the field of environment conservation. The project manager of HSF in Korea, Felix Glenk, will be giving a presentation at the conference on the topic of North Korea and COVID-19, capacity building, and further cooperation.
