For two years now, political and cultural exchanges have been developed between Bad Hersfeld - Rotenburg that was located on the former inner-German border in Hesse and Cheolwon County. This year the County Chief of Cheolwon as well as a choir from that area visited Bad Hersfeld. Now in turn the County chief Dr. Koch from Bad Hersfeld-Rotenburg was in Cheolwon County for a return visit.

He was accompanied by a school orchestra that performed at the "Taebong" festival, which is a festival in Cheolwon reminiscent of a former kingdom in this region.

The Hanns Seidel Foundation promotes partnerships between districts on the former inner-German and the inner-Korean border as part of its project for the sustainable development of the inner-Korean border region. This has resulted in strong partnerships between the districts of Bayreuth and Goseong as well as Hof and Yeoncheon. It is hoped that the partnership between Bad Hersfeld-Rotenburg and Cheolwon will also strengthen.
