Internship
New Interns in Autumn of 2021

Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Korea continues offering internship experiences for aspiring specialists. August 2021 brought in three new intern researchers.

Recent or expected university graduates in fields relevant to the activities of the foundation have the continued possibility to apply for a research internship at Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Korea. Our interns have opportunities for participating in events with professionals of their fields, doing in-depth research and assisting in daily organizational tasks. The possibility to gain real experience in inter-Korean relations, environmentalism and development is guaranteed for interns at HSF  Korea.

Since mid-August, Lisa Patzer has been supporting the HSF Korea office as a new research intern. During her first week, she was already given the opportunity to attend various events both online and - under appropriate hygiene requirements - offline. Besides writing articles for our office's website and internal reports, Ms. Patzer will accompany a research project on North Korea's strategies to cope with the Corona pandemic during her internship. In the following week, YongJune Kim has also joined as a new research intern for HSF Korea. Along with other hardworking interns, he is actively participating in various online/offline seminars and conferences focusing on long-term inter-Korean cooperative development measures regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on his efforts on writing/translating related research reports and articles, Mr. Kim will effectively assist with managing further upcoming events which HSF Korea will be involved in.

HSF Korea also welcomed Konstantin Jelonek as a third research intern at the end of August. Already, on his first day at the foundation, Mr. Jelonek was given two major assignments: Research on the housing market in North Korea as well as on import substitution in North Korea - subjects that fit nicely with his economics major. Besides creating content for the HSF website like articles and reports, he was given the chance to attend two online seminars on biodiversity in Korea and international political issues. During the next weeks, Mr. Jelonek will have the opportunity to tackle other large scale international subjects like Green Growth and the European Green Deal. Through the experiences and relationships created, internships at HSF Korea act as a strong foundation for future endeavors of many of our interns.

Please remain mindful of COVID-19 related restrictions and apply at least 6 months ahead of the period you wish to intern in.
