Meeting
New Engineering to Protect the Environment of the Korean Peninsular

On 18 October the ecological engineering roundtable meeting for Social Overhead Capital (SOC) development in Korean Peninsular took place in Gyeongju city. It was part of the Korean Society of Civil Engineers 2018 Conference. The main theme was the role of ecological engineering in Korean Peninsular for the fields of the water, transportation, and environment infrastructure.

On 18 October the ecological engineering roundtable meeting for Social Overhead Capital (SOC) development in Korean Peninsular took place in Gyeongju city. Prof Paik, Jonngcheol (Gangneung-Wonju National University) moderated this meeting to share the knowledge and information with the participants. The speakers gave presentations about the current and future potential of cooperation in the water field by Dr Kim, Hyeinjun (Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology), the environment field by Dr Myeong, Soojeong (Korea Environment Institute), and the transportation infrastructure field by Dr Lee, Back Jin (Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements).

Dr Choi, Hyun-Ah (Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea) attended this meeting as panelist for the discussion. Dr Choi explained multilateral environment cooperation approaches in Korean Peninsular including HSF’s work. The participants agreed that it needs to review the scaling up for land development on the Korean Peninsular.
