Internship
New Interns in Early Summer 2023

Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Korea continues offering internship experiences for aspiring specialists. May 2023 brought in three new intern researchers.

Recent or expected university graduates in fields relevant to the activities of the foundation have the continued possibility to apply for a research internship at Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Korea. Our interns have opportunities for participating in events with professionals of their fields, doing in-depth research and assisting in daily organizational tasks and to get a taste of networking. The possibility to gain real experience in inter-Korean relations, environmentalism and development is guaranteed for interns at HSF Korea.

Since the beginning of May, Marcel Thiel has been supporting the HSF Korea office as a research intern. During his first weeks, he was already given the opportunity to attend various events. Furthermore he writes articles for our office's website and internal reports. He also compiled research on the topic of radioactive waste.

HSF Korea recently welcomed Maël Testud-Couëdic as their second research intern in mid-May 2023. Hailing from France, Mael holds a master's degree in International Relations and Geopolitics, with a specialization in the study of the Korean Peninsula. Eager to gain experience in the realms of environmental protection and cultural heritage, she has conducted extensive research on UNESCO and North Korea in particular. Additionally, Ms. Testud-Couëdic has actively participated in various conferences and seminars, further deepening her knowledge and expertise in these areas.

Magdalena Winkler started her internship towards the end of May 2023, in order to accompany her future endeavours and interests in politics. She supports the office mainly through organizational or research matters, such as accompanying the Bavarian Delegation on trips and meetings or researching predominantly Korea’s history and affairs regarding biodiversity. In addition, she solidifies her interests in journalism through the translation of articles for the HSF and social media management.

Not only does an internship at HSF Korea offer diverse insights into inter-Korean relations, biodiversity, and environmental protection, as well as issues of Korean reunification, but it also supports our interns in their professional orientation. HSF Korea is also looking forward to receiving numerous applications in the future! Those interested in an internship can contact Rebecca Reinecke, Project Manager for DPRK, (reinecke-r(at)hss.de).
