Meetings in September 2023

In September 2023, Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea had several meetings. The topic of meeting ranged from cooperation between Germany and Korea to environmental protection.

Preparing for the German-Korean Youth Forum

On 25 September, the meeting between Dr. Bernhard Seliger, representative of HSF Korea, and Young-Soo Kim, project manager of HSF Korea, took place with the project manager of the Young Generation Network Germany, Johannes Klausa. Hanns Seidel Foundation has been working closely with the network for years. One of the topics of the last meeting was the preparation of the next seminar program before the German-Korean Youth Forum in October and November 2023.

 

Discussing cooperation with the World Korea Forum

In September, the CEO of the World Korea Forum Dr. Rhee Tshangchu as well as the Executive Manager Kim Mihae visited the office of Hanns Seidel Foundation to discuss the cooperation regarding the 25th anniversary of the Forum, which will take place at Istanbul University. The Korea Global Foundation has been organising annual conferences on Korean politics and reunification since 1999.

 

Discuss environmental protection and local biodiversity

On 27 September, at the invitation of the Slovenian Ambassador Jernej Müller, Dr Seliger met with the President of the Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC), Mr. Byung Ho Lee, and with representatives of the Rural Research Institute (RRI) at the Slovenian Embassy in Seoul. The meeting focused on future joint projects related to environmental protection, local biodiversity and beekeeping.

 

Discussing collaboration for biodiversity conservation in Northeast Asia

Hanns Seidel Foundation Senior Researcher Dr. Hyun-Ah Choi and Project Manager Mr. Young-Soo Kim attended a meeting with the partners of the East Asian - Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP) and the UNESCAP East and Northeast Asia Office on 21 September to discuss possible cooperation on biodiversity conservation and habitat for endangered species in Northeast Asia. In this context, Mr Koschyk and Ms Jennifer George, Head of the EAAFP, emphasized the role of soft tourism on the Korean peninsula.
