A forum on the topic of "reunification education" took place in Seoul on 23.08.2018 from 14-18 o'clock. The forum was organized by IPA (Institute for Peace Affairs) and financially supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Seoul and the Korean Council for Unification Education. The 5 school teachers Ms Lee, Kyung-Ha (Soojoo Middle School), Ms Son, Hye-Jin (Songun Middle School), Mr Shin, Dong-Joon (Dongsan High School in Ansan), Mr Yoon, Ki-Hong (Sudo Girls´ High School) and Ms Cho, Eun-Joo (Gyeonggi International Trade High School) as well as three groups from three universities (Korea University, Catholic University and Chung-Ang University) gave presentations. All the speakers have been very active in the field of "reunification education" for a long time.
Each teacher presented, among other things, how his or her school has so far carried out the reunification education, which advantages and disadvantages were to be seen, how the education should develop further and what effects the education has. The three groups of universities presented what actions they had carried out and what measures should be taken to improve conditions for reunification education.
This forum is particularly useful because it gives young generations (ages 13-26) in particular an opportunity to reflect on the important topic of "reunification".
