On occasion of their visit to Korea, Dr. Susanne Luther, director of the Institute for International Cooperation (IIC) of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation as well as Willi Lange, head of the Northeast and Central Asian Department of the ICC, met with Seok-Ho Kang, Chairman of the influential Committee for International Relations and Unification of the National Assembly. Dr. Luther was accompanied by Dr. Bernhard Seliger and Young-Soo Kim of HSF Korea. Kang, who hails from the oppositional Liberty Korea Party, gave an outline of the state of North-South relations. Confirming that the whole Korean people was waiting eagerly for peace, he cautioned to be careful in further opening toward North Korea in view of the lack of progress in denuclearization. However, he clearly confirmed his support for exchange of North and South and for the work of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation to support peace and reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula.
