Activity
Observing the migration of birds in Mongolia

In the week of the 22nd of April, Dr. Seliger had the possibility to watch migratory bird in Mongolia. The excursion was organized with the Hanns Seidel Foundation office in Mongolia.

Dr. Bernhard Seliger was invited to various workshops, conferences, and excursions during his visit to Mongolia. Together with Felix Glenk (Country Representative HSF Mongolia) and Batbayar Unenbayar (Project Manager with focus on environment HSF Mongolia), an excursion together with Amarkhuu Gungaa (Research Director of the Mongolian Bird Conservation Center) and Sarangerel Ichinkhorloo (Founder of the Saraana Nature Conservation Foundation) led to the nature near Ulaanbaatar.

The excursion was not far from Ulaanbaatar. Birds and other animals have their breeding grounds in this area, and it is also an important stopover point on the route of migratory birds. The importance of the area lies above all in the fact that it is an important breeding area for swans and young cranes. At present, this area is threatened by destruction such as a car center and the expansion of further industry. The work of the various organizations is highly regarded and appreciated by the Hanns Seidel Foundation, as their commitment to nature conservation contributes to the counting and preservation of species
