Delegation from Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do in Korea visits Partner-City Hof

From March 16th to 20th, Hanns Seidel Foundation's project manager and interpreter Mr Kim Young-soo, accompanied a Korean delegation from Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do to Germany.

The visit was planned by HSF and included visits to facilities for renewable energy, as well as talks regarding preparations of a future cooperation in the field of music

The Korean city Yeoncheon and the German city Hof are partners since 2013. The agreement between the two sides was established with the support of HSF. For Mr Kim Kyu-sun, chief administrator of Yeoncheon, it was already the third visit in Hof. Dr. Oliver Bär, chief administrator of Hof, paid a visit in return to South Korea in October last year. Exchanging experiences and perspectives regarding the German unification in regard to unification preparations in Korea, were one main focus of this year's visit of the Korean delegation in Germany.

The visit was planned by HSF and included visits to facilities for renewable energy, as well as talks regarding preparations of a future cooperation in the field of music. Yeoncheon is frequently hosting the DMZ International Music Festival, for six years, that welcomes a number of international musicians every year. Successful talks led to the agreement that in the future, German musicians will be invited as well.

In addition, the delegation visited two border-museums (Museum of Mödlareuth, Point Alpha). The delegation gained valuable impressions on Germany's past as a divided country and its path to unification, which might serve as an inspiration to ideas for a possible Korean unification.
