Calendar on Migratory Birds published

With the beginning of the year 2017 a “Calendar on Migratory Birds” was published in DPR Korea with the support of Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea. The calendar includes pictures of migratory birds common in the DPR Korea and information on tide levels for each day of the year.

The calendar was distributed to government institutions related to the environment, but also to local people in areas which are of special significance for migratory birds, such as Onchon County, Mundok County and Tongchon County. Especially there the calendar aims to provide quick information about tide levels and at the same time raise awareness for migratory bird species in the DPRK. The calendar also provides information about characteristics, habitats and the conservation status of certain bird species, such as White-naped Crane (Grus vipio), Spoon-billed Sandpiper (Eurynorhynchus pygmeus) and Black-faced Spoonbill (Platalea minor).
