Books related to German unification

Dr. Son Ki-woong and Dr. Kim Jong-in, who have had a long relationship with HSF Korea, published a book on German reunification.

“Unification, Decision To Leave”

“통일, 헤어질 결심(Unification, Decision To Leave)”, written by Dr. Gi-woong Son a director of the Korea Institute for Peace and Cooperation (KIPCO), was published. Dr. Son reminds us of the desire for unification and overcoming hurdles for peace with ceaseless efforts. It also delivered the meaning of Green Detente, lessons from the reunification of Germany, and stories on the Germany-Korea Unification Forum co-organized with HSF Korea.

 

"How Germany Became the No. 1 Country”

Dr. Kim Jong-in, who has a longstanding relationship with HSF Korea, authored "독일은 어떻게 1등 국가가 되었나 (How Germany Became the No. 1 Country)". Dr. Kim is regarded as Korea's foremost expert on Germany, and in this book, he analyzes and provides the method by which Germany established a consensus-type democracy. It also highlights issues about how to move forward the both of Korea and offers lessons from Germany, which restored the land destroyed by war and established a reunified Germany.

 

Germany, which has been a country for 33 years, celebrates "German Unification Day" every year on October 3 as the most important national holiday. Bringing peace on the Korean Peninsula to mind with these two books in October, when Germany reunified, the Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea office is working on various projects for peace on the Korean Peninsula.
