Bavarian Evening – 30th anniversary of Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea

After this year’s German-Korean workshop was successfully concluded, the Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea invited conference participants and special guests to a Bavarian evening to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their work and farewell to Hartmut Koschyk as MP.

Special guests included Dr. Peter Witterauf, General Manager of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation, Dr. Susanne Luther, director of the Institute for International Cooperation of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, Germany’s ambassador to the Republic of Korea Stephan Auer, Michael Reiterer, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Korea, Park, Young-Sun, member of the National Assembly, Chum, Hae-Sung from the Ministry of Unification, Peter Keup from the Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship, Lee Sangmin, head of the Korean-German friendship group in the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Dr. Shin Yeong Seok, President of the Institute for Peace Affairs (IPA), Prof. Dr. Shin, Jin, director of the IPA, and lots of other close partners and friends of HSF Korea.

In his opening remarks Dr. Bernhard Seliger, representative of Hanns Seidel Foundation in Korea, briefly recapped the 30 years of HSF’s work in Korea and thanked all supporting Korean partners and institutions for many years of cooperation. Dr. Witterauf in his speech looked back at several milestones HSF Korea has reached within the last three decades, but also ahead with confidence to HSF’s goals for the next 30 years. After welcoming words from Park, Young-Sun, Chum, Hae-Sung also welcomed everyone to the Bavarian evening before he presented awards to Dr. Witterauf and the HSF for its achievements on the Korean peninsula. Hartmut Koschyk also received an honour for his efforts by Lee Sangmin.

The evening concluded with the performance of a Korean yodel band a relaxed atmosphere with Bavarian food and beer.
