Announcement
Collaboration between the Hanns Seidel Foundation and NGO in border area - EAAFP 2023-2024 Small Grant

Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea office supported Scaly-sided Merganser monitoring project in the border area, Yeoncheon. A local NGO ‘BirdsKorea, Yeoncheon’ aimed to monitor the overwintering population of Scaly-sided Mergansers and strengthen the capacity of citizen scientists through training. Ecological monitoring along the border goes beyond biodiversity conservation and can contribute to peaceful cooperation on the Korean Peninsula through nature.

Hanns Seidel Foundation collaborates with the EAAFP on its Small Grant Project.  In 2023-2024, the project ‘Scaly-sided Merganser’ organized by a local NGO ‘BirdsKorea, Yeoncheon’ was conducted with support from Hanns Seidel Foundation. The project contributed to collecting overwintering data on the endangered species ‘Scaly-sided Merganser’ and raising public awareness, building the capacity of citizen science.

On May 29, the EAAFP Small Grant Workshop 2023-2024 will be held, where the results of various projects will be presented. We hope that civil society's work on climate change and biodiversity loss will receive more attention and support and that together we can build a sustainable future.

We kindly invite as many people as possible to join their workshop!
