On June 5th, Prof. Dr. Dr. Alexander Görlach held a seminar on the overarching theme of Modern Politics, focusing on contemporary questions such as “Are We Entering a New Season of Cold War”? and “What Role will Regional Powers Play in The Time to Come?”. The seminar was hosted by the Institute of International Relations at Hallym University of Graduate Studies and organised by Prof. Dr. Ik-Joong Youn. Prof. Dr. Dr. Alexander Görlach was invited by the Hallym University of Graduate Studies (HUGS) to hold a seminar on contemporary politics with the backdrop of historical factors post 1945 which set the stage for the current political climate in Europe and beyond. The head of the university’s Department of Political Science and Diplomacy, Prof. Dr. Ik-Joong Youn, kindly facilitated the event.

Professor Görlach invited the audience to embark on a journey spanning continents, cultures and conflicts. It was an informative and engaging seminar welcoming participants to actively and critically reflect on the topics discussed. Specific case-studies and power-dynamics at play in political, economic and social realms were picked up to further illustrate the disciplines Prof. Görlach explained. The seminar then was rounded off with a Q and A session allowing students to ask specific questions and enabling Prof. Görlach to touch upon additional points of interest.
