Activities in February
On 14 February 2025, Dr Bernhard Seliger, representative of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation Korea, together with Kim Young-Soo from Hanns-Seidel-Foundation, held a working meeting with Dr Ahn Ji-Ho from Goyang Research Research Institute (GYRI).
GYRI has been an important partner in discussions on border area development, economic development and health co-operation in recent years. Dr Ahn, an alumni of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation, will be on a research trip to Germany this year to explore post-crisis industrial transformation, a very important topic for both Korea and Germany. Thank you very much for the visit!
On 21 February 2025, Dr Bernhard Seliger attended the ADeKo Night and the associated New Year's Reception. The Alumni Network Germany Korea (ADeKo) is the world's largest national network of Korean Germany alumni who have lived, studied and researched in Germany. In front of the alumni and numerous guests, including the Deputy German Ambassador Jörg Beißert, awards were presented to deserving alumni who have made outstanding contributions to German-Korean academic relations and beyond, often over decades.
Many thanks to ADeKo and especially ADeKo President Kim Hyo-Joon for inviting us to this wonderful evening!

On 24 February 2025, a one-week planning workshop on future project work in Northeast Asia began, in which Dr Bernhard Seliger, representative of HSS Korea, took part with colleagues from China, Mongolia and Munich - a reunion with many good colleagues, but also difficult decisions for the future.
Dr Hyun-Ah Choi, Senior Researcher, HSF Korea, visited HKBWS and WWF HK Hoi Ha Marine Life Centre on 24 and 25 February. During the visit, marine conservation activities were discussed. Of particular importance was the explanation of the operational programmes - marine ecosystem education for school visits and the coral restoration project in marine protected areas at Hoi Ha Marine Life Centre. The CEPA programmes were also discussed.
