Special Lecture on Environmental Cooperation in Northeast Asia at Tongwon University
Special lecture "Towards an Northeast Asian environmental community" at Tongwon University, Gwangju (Gyeonggi-Do)

At Tongwon University in Gwangju, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Seliger shared insights on cross-border environmental cooperation in Northeast Asia, drawing on Germany’s reunification experience and offering concrete ideas for regional collaboration.

In late May, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Seliger, representative of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation in Korea, gave a special lecture on the possibilities of environmental cooperation in Northeast Asia at Tongwon University in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-Do.

The university, which was founded in 1993 by former Korean Foreign Minister Lee Tong-Won, has a special lecture series, to which Prof. Seliger was invited by Prof. Kim J-Kyung, Student Counseling Center Director. Prof. Seliger spoke about cooperation in preserving biodiversity, forming of an energy community, and lessons from the German experience of turning the former deadly inner-German border into the largest connected habitat and eco-corridor in Europe. Prof. Son Gi-Woong, President of the Korean Institute for Peace and Cooperation (KIPCO) kindly helped to translate and discuss the session.

Thank you very much for an interesting afternoon!
