Dialogue and Trust
Prospects for Regional Cooperation in Northeast Asia
The workshop brought together renowned scholars, researchers, and policy experts from Mongolia, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, and Poland to exchange perspectives on regional cooperation, trust-building, and dialogue in Northeast Asia. The discussions focused on how historical experiences, national narratives, and current geopolitical developments shape the opportunities and challenges of regional cooperation.
Through country presentations, plenary discussions, and thematic working groups, participants explored approaches to building trust, opportunities for practical cooperation, and the role of Europe as a constructive partner in regional dialogue. The discussions underscored the importance of sustained academic and political exchange in addressing shared challenges and fostering mutual understanding.
The workshop marks the beginning of a long-term cooperation process that will include the preparation of a joint publication as well as a study and dialogue visit to Germany later this year.
The HSS offices in Mongolia, the Republic of Korea, China, and Central Asia extend their sincere thanks to all speakers and participants for their valuable contributions and commitment to strengthening dialogue and cooperation across regions.
