Meetings in March
Meeting between K-Water and HSS Korea
Providing safe and clean water is one of the most important tasks of the state (and many unfortunately fail sometimes or all the time). At the same time, this task often has a profound and sometimes harmful impact on the environment. In Korea, K-Water is the public agency responsible for drinking water, dams, water and flood control, etc. Now officials from K-Water, led by Director General Shim Kidong of the Water Resources Planning Department, met with Hanns-Seidel-Foundation in Seoul to discuss water policy issues on the Korean peninsula. We thank you for the friendly, interesting and productive exchange of ideas!
Meeting between KIOST and HSS Korea
The Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) and HSF Korea met to discuss collaboration on marine science and conservation initiatives. On 19 March 2025, Dr GiYoung Chae and Seoryun Jeong from KIOST visited HSF Korea and met with Dr Seliger and Dr Choi to share their expertise and insights on key environmental challenges. The discussion centred on the sustainable management of coastal and marine ecosystems with a focus on the Korean peninsula. They emphasised the importance of scientific research, policy-oriented conservation measures and international cooperation in addressing pressing marine environmental issues.
