Wetlands Awareness at Kia Tigers Game
HSF Korea Supports World Wetlands Day Outreach at Gwangju-KIA Champions Field

HSF Korea joined its partner organization, the Ramsar Regional Center – East Asia (RRC-EA), and other environmental stakeholders at Gwangju-KIA Champions Field to promote World Wetlands Day and raise public awareness of wetland conservation. Through interactive activities and outreach efforts, the event engaged baseball fans in learning about the importance of protecting wetlands and biodiversity.

HSF Korea's partner organization, the Ramsar Regional Center – East Asia (RRC-EA) and Kia Tigers professional baseball club, celebrated World Wetlands Day together with the National Wetland Center, the World Heritage Promotion Team of Korean Tidal Flat, and the Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation at Gwangju-KIA Champions Field in Gwangju on 13 June 2026.

The RRC-EA and its partner organizations, including HSF Korea, operated promotional booths to raise public awareness of World Wetlands Day and the importance of wetland conservation. Visitors were encouraged to learn about wetlands through interactive activities.

As part of the campaign, the RRC-EA distributed baseballs marked with “2 February” (World Wetlands Day) and commemorative pins to baseball fans who took photos in front of the promotional backdrop, helping to increase public engagement and awareness of wetland conservation.

Dr. Hyun-Ah Choi of HSF Korea also participated in the event, engaging with visitors and supporting outreach activities aimed at promoting the conservation and wise use of wetlands.

HSF Korea has been supporting World Wetlands Day outreach activities for several years and also participated in a similar public awareness event organized by the RRC-EA in 2021. Through its continued involvement, HSF Korea remains committed to promoting wetland conservation, biodiversity protection, and public engagement on environmental issues across the region.
