HSF Korea Strengthens Its Advisory Role in Inter-Korean Cooperation

With the appointment of Dr. Hyun-Ah Choi to several government and civil society advisory bodies, HSS Korea’s expertise in inter-Korean dialogue and environmental cooperation is further strengthened. This intensified cooperation focuses particularly on environmental protection, reforestation, and sustainable peacebuilding.

The Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Korea has continuously worked to promote reconciliation, cooperation, and sustainable development on the Korean Peninsula. Drawing on its long-standing experience in inter-Korean dialogue and environmental cooperation, HSF Korea also contributes its expertise through various governmental and civil-society advisory bodies.

In 2026, Dr Hyun-Ah Choi, Senior Researcher at HSF Korea, was appointed as an advisory member of the following committees: Inter-Korean Exchange Advisory Group of the South-North Korea Exchanges and Cooperation Support Association, Goyang City Committee for Inter-Korean Exchange and Cooperation, Policy Advisory Committee of the Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation, Policy Advisory Committee of the Korea Forest Service and Korean Peninsula Forest Forum.

Notably, the Korea Forest Service launched the Korean Peninsula Forest Forum to explore practical, phased approaches to inter-Korean exchange and cooperation in the forestry sector.

Through Dr Choi’s participation in these advisory bodies, HSF Korea will continue to support peaceful coexistence and shared development on the Korean Peninsula by advancing policy dialogue and developing practical avenues for cooperation - particularly in environmental protection, forest restoration, and sustainable peacebuilding.
