HSF Korea Participated in the 2026 Suncheon International Forum
Suncheon City hosted the 2026 Suncheon International Forum on October 26–27, themed “Suncheon: From Nature to the Future.” The forum brought together discussions on ecosystem services, inclusive prosperity, and nature-positive action, exploring how cities can connect ecosystem conservation with local prosperity and build a sustainable future.
As a partner organization, the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) supported the forum. Mr. Felix J. Glenk, Representative of the HSF Korea and Mongolia, delivered congratulatory remarks.
The forum presented an international cooperation model linking ecological conservation to regional prosperity and shared a vision for sustainable cities. Discussions highlighted how conserving ecosystems can support local communities' long-term well-being and help shape a future where nature and people thrive together.
The forum also announced the Suncheon Declaration, committing to pursue ecological conservation and regional prosperity together. The declaration sets out a shared direction for cooperation toward a sustainable future for nature and local communities.
Following the forum, HSF Korea will participate in the Autumn Conference of the Korean Society of Ornithology, taking place on October 29–30. Together with its partner organization Eco Korea, HSF Korea will present changes in how Janghang Wetland, a protected area in the Han River Estuary, is used. The presentation will share observations on changing patterns and consider their relevance to wetland conservation.
Through its participation in the forum and academic conference, HSF Korea will continue to support dialogue and cooperation that connect ecosystem conservation with sustainable regional development.
