HSF Korea congratulates Markus Ferber on his re-election to the European Parliament
As envisioned, the Chairman of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, Markus Ferber, has been re-elected as a Member of the European Parliament. In last Sunday's election for the European Parliament, the Christian Social Union (CSU), Bavaria's most popular party, was able to secure the majority of votes. Parties of the center and right gained votes, while left-wing parties lost voters compared to the previous votes. For the first time, people from the age of 16 were able to vote in Germany in an election, which however changed the electorate only slightly by around 2%.
The European elections are crucial as they reflect the mood of the electorate and their wishes for the future of Europe. It also serves as a forecast for next year's parliamentary elections. Chairman Markus Ferber stands for a common Europe in which future cooperation between countries is inevitable and important and describes the EU as the “largest peace movement in the world”. He was first elected to the European Parliament in 1994 and has represented the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia ever since.
