Exchange with project partners and members of the National Assembly
On 14 May 2026, Felix J. Glenk visited the office of the Center for Korean Women & Politics in Mapo, Seoul, together with Kim Young-soo, Project Manager of the Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss sociopolitical issues in Korea and the wider region. The meeting was attended by Kim Eun-joo, Executive Director of the Center for Korean Women & Politics, as well as project managers Ryu Young-sook and Lee Eun-haeng. The discussion focused on prospects for future joint activities. The participants also addressed questions of peace, security, and women’s participation in society across the region. Both sides underlined the importance of continued dialogue and agreed to explore possible areas of cooperation.
Following this, Felix J. Glenk held talks at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea. He first met with Member of the National Assembly Kwon Young-se for a courtesy visit. The meeting offered an opportunity to become personally acquainted following Felix J. Glenk’s assumption of office at the Hanns Seidel Foundation’s Korea office and provided space for an exchange on the Foundation’s work on the Korean Peninsula and in Mongolia. Kwon Young-se referred to his experiences with Germany and acknowledged the importance of German-Korean dialogue. Both sides discussed shared interests and possible opportunities to continue the exchange in the future.
Also at the National Assembly, Felix J. Glenk met with Member of the National Assembly Kim Hee-jung. Kim Hee-jung has been familiar with the work of the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Korea for many years. The visit therefore built on existing contacts and previous encounters. During the meeting, Felix J. Glenk also introduced his new areas of responsibility and outlined the priorities of the Foundation’s work in Korea and the wider region. In the further exchange, both sides addressed possible areas for future discussions, particularly with regard to regional cooperation in Northeast Asia. They also underlined the importance of reliable contacts and regular dialogue.
The day highlighted the breadth of HSS Korea’s dialogue in Seoul, ranging from cooperation with civil society partners to meetings with members of the National Assembly. HSS Korea will continue to maintain these contacts as part of its work in Korea and the wider region.
