Global Korea Forum 2025 – Germany Seminar
Fostering Peaceful Coexistence and Strategic Dialogue Between Germany and Korea
The Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) co-organised the Global Korea Forum 2025 – Germany Seminar in collaboration with the Institute for National Security Strategy (INSS) on 30 September 2025 at the Free University of Berlin. The seminar brought together leading experts, policymakers, and scholars from Germany and Korea to exchange views on peaceful coexistence and stability on the Korean Peninsula, inter-Korean relations, and future directions for bilateral cooperation. Discussions also explored how both countries can work together to advance regional peace, democratic governance, and shared prosperity amid growing global uncertainty.
Representing HSF Korea, Dr. Bernhard Seliger and Dr. Hyun-Ah Choi participated as presenter and discussant, sharing their insights on pathways to peaceful coexistence, Korean unification policy, and Germany’s experiences in regional cooperation. In addition, Mr. Markus Ferber, MEP, and Chairperson of HSF, delivered welcome remarks that set the tone for constructive dialogue. Their contributions inspired meaningful dialogue on how the two nations can deepen collaboration for long-term peace and policy innovation.
The seminar reaffirmed the importance of policy dialogue and think tank partnerships in fostering mutual understanding, trust-building, and sustainable peace. It also highlighted a shared commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence, strategic cooperation, and inclusive development among Germany and the two Koreas.
Together, these efforts help lay the foundation for a more peaceful, cooperative, and sustainable future on the Korean Peninsula and beyond.
