Expert Work Session for the Biosphere Reserve Wetland Nature Centre in Yeoncheon

On 1 August 2024, the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) was represented by Prof. Dr. Seliger and researcher Hyunah Choi at the Expert Work Session for the Biosphere Reserve Wetlands Nature Centre, held in Jeongok, Yeoncheon. This symposium marks a significant stride towards integrating sustainable practices into urban development.

The key discussions at the symposium focused on the creation of a versatile and sustainable nature centre. The planned initiatives include the development of a wetland plant garden, the restoration of freshwater wetlands, and the cultivation of vegetation for agricultural purposes. Furthermore, the project aims to establish disturbance distances to protect bird populations, enhancing the ecological balance of the region.

These efforts resonate deeply with the Hanns Seidel Foundation’s mission to promote environmental sustainability and innovative solutions for global challenges. The symposium's outcomes align with our commitment to fostering nature-based solutions and supporting projects that harmonise human activities with natural ecosystems.
