Rason and SDGs

On 20th of August Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Korea and Hananuri organized a joint online seminar on Rason and SDGs in North Korea. Dr. Bernhard Seliger, the Representative of HSF Korea, did a presentation to share the experiences of HSF Korea on the topics of Agriculture, Environment, and Development in Cooperation with the Rason Special City.

The Rason Special Economic zone was established in 1992 by North Korea’s government in order to promote economic growth through foreign investment. Dr. Bernhard Seliger, the Representative of HSF Korea, talked about the Rason SEZ in an online seminar held by HSF Korea and the Academy of Northeast Asia Studies, Hananuri. Dr. Seliger discussed the topics of Agriculture, Environment, and Development in Rason, but also addressed some of the coming challenges in the area and possible problems of long-term cooperation.

 

After Dr. Seliger’s presentation, Dr. Sung-Chan Cho, the Executive Director of the Academy of Northeast Asia Studies Hananuri, and Dr. Dong-Jin Choi, the Director of the Institute for Climate Change Action, also gave their comments on the topic of regional development and environmental conservation in the Rason Special Economic Zone.
