Announcement: Germany Seminar – Global Korea Forum 2025

On 30 September 2025, the German Seminar of the Global Korea Forum 2025 will take place at the Free University of Berlin. The seminar will address, among other topics, division, reunification, and cultural perspectives of Korea and Germany

On Tuesday, 30 September 2025, this year´s Germany Seminar of the Global Korea Forum will take place at the Free University of Berlin, organized by the Institute for National Security Strategy of the Republic of Korea and Hanns-Seidel-Foundation. 
Following the opening speech by Chung Dong-Young, Minister of Unification, the seminar will address, among other topics, the reasons for the continued division of the Korean Peninsula and the differences compared to a reunified Germany. In this context, Dr. Seliger, Representative of the Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea, will present a comparison of the two “Two-State Theories” – West and East Germany, as well as North and South Korea.
Furthermore, the seminar will explore the role of reunification in cultural contexts, such as literature and film, in Germany and in North and South Korea. Dr. Hyun-Ah Choi, Senior Researcher at Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea, will discuss, among other points, whether and to what extent a peaceful coexistence between the two Koreas is feasible.
