Trip
Aegibong Peace Eco Park

On February 19, the Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea had the opportunity to visit Aegibong Peace Eco Park together with Dr. Tereza Novotna (FU Berlin), Nanjin Dorjsuren (Mongolian Institute of Northeast Asian Security and Strategy), Muchun Liao (King’s College London), and Glyn Ford (Track 2 Asia).

Located just a few hundred meters from North Korea across the Jogang River, Aegibong Peace Eco Park offers a direct and striking view of the North Korean mainland. The site stands as a symbol of division and hope, reminding us of the complex history and future possibilities of the Korean Peninsula. In addition to its historical significance, the park showcases the unique, untouched ecosystem of the inter-Korean border region—a rare, non-industrialized natural landscape shaped by decades of separation.

We thank all participants for the valuable experience during this visit!
