Celebrating 100 Years of the DAAD
In April, the German Embassy in Seoul hosted a special event to commemorate the centenary of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Established in 1925, the DAAD has supported over 3 million students and researchers worldwide, making it the largest academic exchange organisation globally .
The celebration highlighted the DAAD's pivotal role in fostering international academic cooperation, particularly in times of geopolitical challenges. Former Prime Minister of Korea, Kim Hwang Sik, delivered a laudatory speech, reflecting on the profound impact of DAAD alumni on Korean society.
The event underscored the enduring partnership between Germany and Korea in the realm of education and research.
Preparing for the 2025 World Coastal Forum
On April 14, HSF Korea engaged in a strategic meeting with Mr. Alex Zhang, Secretary General of the Eco Foundation Global, to discuss preparations for the 2025 World Coastal Forum (WCF). HSF Korea has been an active participant in the WCF, sharing its conservation efforts in the West/Yellow Sea region, including ongoing work to protect the Mundok Wetland in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The collaboration aims to strengthen global coastal conservation initiatives and promote sustainable practices in the region.
Visit to the Ala Archa National Park in Bishkek, 7 April 2025
The HSF delegation with flyway experts Jeremie Berlioux and Ella Mikusheva visited the Ala Archa National Park together with local expert Andrei Averin. Located on the outskirts of Bishkek, Ala Archa National Park is an IUCN category II national park and an excellent destination for birdwatching CAF species.
