35th Anniversary of the Center for Korean Women and Politics (CKWP)

On 21 March 2025, CKWP celebrated its 35th anniversary in Seoul. Among the guests were Prof. Dr Bernhard Seliger and Kim Young-Soo from the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation, who particularly emphasised the long-standing good partnership with CKWP.

35th Anniversary of the Center for Korean Women and Politics (CKWP)

35 years ago, in Seoul the Center for Korean Women and Politics (CKWP) was founded by Dr. Sohn Boc-Scuk and many other engaged women. CKWP, one of the most important organizations in Korea promoting women in politics, carried out seminars, workshops, conferences and trainings for young women, for example as assistants of Parliamentarians. For many years, CKWP partnered with Hanns-Seidel-Foundation of Germany for training. Trainees of CKWP went to the German Parliament to assist German Parliamentarians, learned about political and social systems of Germany and exchanged views with German women politicians like Prof. Ursula Männle, Member of the German Parliament and later the Parliament of the Free State of Bavaria as well as head of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation, the late Barbara Stamm, President of the Parliament of the Free State of Bavaria or Emilia Müller, Member of the European Parliament. 

 This week, CKWP celebrated its 35th anniversary in Seoul, Among the well-wishers were Prof. Dr. Bernhard Seliger and Kim Young-Soo of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation, who stressed the good partnership with CKWP over many years. Also, Kim Sun-Wook, former President of Ewha Womens University, Shin Nak-Kyun, former Minister of Culture and Tourism, as well as former and current Members of the National Assembly, the Gyeonggi Province Assembly, Seoul City Assembly and many other representatives of women organizations were there. Congratulations, and for many more decades of good work!
