[MIDAS] Who represents the people? German Multi-Party System and Implications for Korea

An article written by Dr. Bernhard Seliger, representative of Hanns Seidel Foundation's Korean Office (HSF), was published on MIDAS 2022 5 Vol. 219

In May, a periodical article by Dr. Bernhard Seliger, representative of Hanns Seidel Foundation's Korean office, " Who represents the people? German Multi-Party System and Implications for Korea" was published on MIDAS. MIDAS magazine is a current affairs magazine that deals with various fields such as macroeconomics, business, people, and culture, including Korean Peninsula and international news content. Dr. Seliger's article will be published in Midas magazine for nearly a year and will share insightful ideas about the Korean Peninsula and international affairs.

This article mentioned representative democracy through the linked proportional representation system as a model for improvement in Korea. Dr. Seliger questioned whether the German multiparty system is the ultimate solution for Korea and suggested that a two-party system that can prevent multiple dictatorships against the minority and focuses on strong civil rights that value individual freedom would be a better choice for Korea.
