Announcement
Korean German Conference on November 17th 2022

On November 17th, the “Korean-German Conference on Transition of Agriculture and the Challenge to Preserve Biodiversity”, co-organized by the Hanns Seidel Foundation and the German Embassy will take place in Seoul.

South Korea and Germany have been working closely together in tackling global challenges, such as climate change and the dramatic loss of agricultural biodiversity as a direct consequence of intensive land use. Over time, yields declined, while at the same time costs continued to rise. Currently, both in Germany and South Korea, agriculture is confronted with profound structural change. As traditional models of family farming often come to an end,  new concepts of agriculture that enhance the role of farmers as landscape managers and providers of ecosystem services are in demand. Government support schemes provide incentives for the promotion of sustainable production. This conference will bring together stakeholders, academics and practitioners to discuss the future of sustainable farming and how to achieve a stabilization of agriculture biodiversity. The conference will be held in English. Korean translation is available.
