Felix Glenk, project manager for North Korea at HSF, started the day with a question and answer session, where the students were asked to say what comes to their minds first when they hear the buzzwords "nature", "North Korea" and "birds". For some participants, this was a real thought-provoking stimulus with a variety of answers. Therefore, many students received a first impression for what was about to come, as they were not yet familiar with the foundation's work in detail, especially with regard to the environmental projects in North Korea.
This was about to change with a following presentation on the tasks of the foundation in Korea. The students learned about the founding purpose of the HSF and in which sense freedom and democracy are a significant part in its field of expertise. In detail, those are the core aspects for the potential of cooperation with North Korea regarding projects touching on the nations biodiversity.
Towards the end, there was still time for a short question-and-answer session, in which one student wanted to know how much the division of Germany has left its mark to this day. Furthermore, the question arose to which extent the North Korean mentality differed to the outside world. Altogether, the presentation was well received by all visitors and according to the teachers statement, events like this offer an exciting and varied view on „inner-Korean relations“.
